Hi, my name is Kent Ginther, and I’m the owner of the CAT5GEAR brand and the designer of the CAT5GEAR Cyclist Case. Just a quick story about how I saw the need for a product like this and went on to design it.

By 2011, I had spent years mountain biking, but I was beginning to transition into road cycling, duathlons, and charity rides. As I got more involved, I needed a better way to organize and transport my gear. At the time, the options were limited—mostly expensive duffle bags that weren’t designed with cyclists in mind.

With a background in branding and package design through my marketing company, and access to overseas manufacturing partners, I decided to create a better solution. Over the course of about eight months, I developed what became the Cyclist Case.

I launched the case at a well-known cycling event in the spring of 2012, where it was met with immediate positive feedback. Since then, we’ve continued to refine the design—adding a shoulder strap, improving the internal pocket layout, and upgrading key components.

One of the most common failure points in any gear bag is the zipper, so we addressed that by switching to a YKK zipper, widely considered the gold standard for durability and performance.

Today, the bike gear case market has grown significantly, with several competitors and knockoff attempts. However, as the originators of this category, we stand by the thoughtful design and functionality of our case. It’s built to meet the needs of road, gravel, and mountain bike enthusiasts alike.

We’ve also made a deliberate choice to keep our pricing reasonable in a sport where costs can quickly add up. The result is a high-quality, purpose-built gear storage solution that we believe offers the best value on the market.

Although the Cyclist Case is great for storing your gear when travelling and cycling abroad (it fits most airlines carry on baggage requirements) it was really designed for meeting friends at the trailhead, or a popular riding spot and being ready2ride.

Through our online store we have shipped all across Canada and all 50 of the US states, but have also shipped internationally to Australia, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, UAE and the United Kingdom.
